DOLL ART

Okay, I have never been much of a doll person, besides being a Barbie freak when a little girl. When I was in kindergarden, the Cuban teenage girl neighbor gave me her Barbie collection, and I was so excited! At 13, I donated my collection to my neighbor girl and never looked back...
Anyway, I am getting away from the point here- I have gotten lost in links of Barbies that have been re-painted & redesigned by artists, and I am in awe of their talent! This one caught my eye by D.K. Anderson at  Onesixthsense.com.
Go on over & check out some of her other awesome creations!  I wish I could do something like this. What a neat way to give new life to old dolls!

  1. I inherited my cousin's Barbie collection when I was about 6 years old. Then my sister Sarah went on a spree of sewing a gillion beautiful, smart very 60's and Jackie-O suits for them. To go with the beautiful gowns that came with the dolls. They were saved in the attic for the longest...then I finally passed them on to a little girl. The doll above it very beautiful and interesting. I'd never have the patience for such an undertaking. - Barbara

    1. WOW! I bet those clothes were awesome! I used to make my own Barbie clothes, but they were nothing special. I wouldn't even have the talent to approaching painting the faces, I have enough trouble drawing a smiley face.

  2. I was a tomboy. The only dolls I remember are two dolls that were as tall as I was when I was 4 when we moved my mom took the one that still looked how with us. She looked good because I loved the other one. After that I was on to stuffed animals and baseball bats.

    1. I used to have one of those tall "walking dolls" too when I was little. I called her Susan. I have seen it a few times in antique stores but they all look "well loved". I was a tomboy too, growing up in the mountains. Probably why I love nature so much.
